PROGRAMME

In addition to oral presentations, there will also be an inter-active and interesting practical session with horses, riders and handlers at various levels of training and competition experience.  This practical demonstration session will facilitate further promotion and justification of equitation science and encourage lively discussion among delegates.

ARMY EQUITATION SCHOOL

Lt. Col Gerry O’ Gorman (Officer Commanding) has kindly offered to support ISES Dublin 2008 with an equitation coaching and training display by riders and horses from the Army Equitation School.  Established in 1926, the Army Equitation School serves to promote Ireland and the merits of the Irish horse – see http://www.military.ie/army/specialists/equit/index.htm

For more than 80 years, the Equitation School riders have regularly formed the backbone of Irish showjumping and eventing teams around the world.  Several Army riders have represented Ireland at Olympic, World and European Championship level in Showjumping and Three Day Eventing. The Army riders have regularly assisted the Irish team to many Aga Khan Trophy successes at the RDS in Dublin, and other great Nations Cup successes at prestigious venues such as Aachen, Calgary, Washington and Toronto.

More details on the practical equitation demonstrations will be available later…
