Traditional horsekeeping practices developed long before equine behaviour and environmental impacts were fully understood. As a result, some aspects of modern management may not fully reflect current knowledge and can contribute to stress — not only for the horses themselves, but also for the wider environment. This talk will provide insights into how you can begin to make changes that improve not only how you keep your horse(s), but also how you manage the land they live on. — Jane Myers
Jane Myers holds an MSc in Equine Science from the University of Wales and has over 45 years of experience in the horse industry across the UK and Australia. Her background spans equine behaviour, nutrition, health, and grazing research, including thesis work conducted at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh. Jane has taught riding and horse management for more than four decades, including seven years at Glenormiston College (University of Melbourne), and has served as an executive board member of Horse Safety Australia. A lifelong rider and competitor across multiple disciplines, she combines academic expertise with extensive practical experience to bridge the gap between research and everyday horse management.
