2027 International Conference
22nd International Conference
Lisbon, Portugal
Early information
The International Society for Equitation Science (ISES) Conference 2027 is coming to Lisbon, Portugal, from 14–16 July 2027, hosted by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Lisbon, in collaboration with the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.Â
Under the theme “Tradition in Transition – Science Guiding Equestrian Future”, the conference will bring together researchers, students and equestrian practitioners for three days of keynote lectures, oral and poster presentations, scientific exchange and discussion of how research can inform equestrian practice.Â
Portugal provides a particularly inspiring setting. Its living equestrian tradition, with the Lusitano horse at its heart, is internationally renowned, and Portuguese Equestrian Art was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2024. Conference participants will have opportunities to experience this heritage first-hand.Â
A varied excursion programme is planned, including the National Coach Museum, a stud farm visit and a Portuguese country dinner, with opportunities to encounter both Lusitano and Sorraia horses and traditional Portuguese horsemanship.Â
Combine inspiring equitation science with Portugal’s rich equestrian culture, beautiful landscapes and hospitality.Â
Save the date: 14–16 July 2027 – Lisbon, Portugal.Â
Further information about the scientific programme, abstract submissions, and registration will be available in 2027.Â
